First, thank you to all my clients who have been so supportive and understanding over recent weeks. It has been a desperately sad time made harder by the coronavirus pandemic.
As we try to adjust, I thought I’d let you know EVC Marketing’s approach to the current situation. I have to admit, I’ve been influenced by an article in Marketing Week written by Mark Ritson, which I urge you to read.
We have to accept that just three months into the New Year, our business plans are in disarray. It’s no one’s fault. We couldn’t have planned for any of this.
What we can plan for, however, is that this situation will change. The time to act is now. And not just with communications of support to our clients.
As Ritson explains: “You don’t have to feel the nation’s pain, you just need to ensure the wheels of business keep turning.”
In a time of financial challenge, it is often the marketing team that is furloughed, or worse, made redundant. Budgets are focused elsewhere by finance teams looking to cut anything they deem an expense.
